Something to consider. I like how he calls music a foreign language and said "the kids just interpreted it for you."

About This Blog

We are six first year music teachers and recent college graduates in music education. While in our undergrad, we were all very active in the marching band, concert bands, and basketball band. Though we all specifically studied instrumental music education, we are not solely interested in band stuff. Our musical interests cover everything from general music to choir, rock bands to composition, and musical theater to music technology. As we begin the adventure of being new teachers, we thought it would be fun to blog about our stories, hardships, questions, and anything else related to the life of new music educators. The New Teachers

EMMA: Emma is teaching 5th-12th grade band, including marching band and pep band at a public school.

GLENN: Glenn is teaching 5th-8th grade concert band, marching band, pep band, and jazz band at a public grade school.

MARY: Mary is teaching Pre-K through 8th grade general music at a private Catholic school.

NICK: Nick is teaching 9th-12th grade band and choir at a public high school.

SARA: Sara is teaching 5th & 6th grade band and general music at two different public elementary schools.

ZACH: Zach is teaching 6th, 7th, and 8th grade band, jazz band, and brass lessons at a public middle school.
